I don't want to look through the filth on the PJ boards for my answer.

Has anybody here watched Friday Night Lights on TV this fall? An epsiode ended a week or so ago with "Comeback" playing in the background, it was a full 6-7 minute scene, with the full Comeback song, I even think they looped the little solo at the end to make it fit. It was awesome...

My question is, who OK'd the use of that song? It doesn't seem like PJ to allow that. Is it still Sony who has rights? There was also a Scrubs episode last year that played a PJ song(can't remember what song), and there was the infamosus Friends finale that played the Yellow Led riff...

All these instances have been on NBC, does NBC own PJ's licensing rights? I'm confused.

I have no idea what the correct answer is, but I would have to assume that PJ would have to give permission to have the song played. Maybe they were just fans of the shows they allowed to play their songs. Who knows?.

I know Jennifer Anniston is a PJ fan, I always assumed that maybe she asked and they said yes for the Friends finale. I even remember the mods at Tenclub leaving hints that everybody should watch the Friends finale. But the other instances seem somewhat random...

As for rights, they ended their contract w/sony after lost dogs and greatest hits. Pearl Jam is under BMG now.
